Iskon Temple- Mumbai

Approximately 1 km from the world famous Juhu beach in Mumbai, the ISKON temple has a signature architecture of ISKON group temples across the globe. Cylinderical structure of the temple is colored in brown and off white color and is spread in 4 acres of land. The temple hosts deities of Sri Gaura-Nitai, Sri Radha Rasabihari and Sri Sita Rama Laxman Hanumanji, which were personally installed by Swami Prabhupada, the founder of ISKON group.
Opened for public 30 years back, the temple is a visual treat to eyes. Its completely built by white marble inside, sparing no expenses. One remarkable thing about this temple is, it doesnt have annoying prasad and flower vendors around here. The temple is clean, staff is organized and well mannered and, even visitors are quite well behaved. Inside the temple, there is a prasad counter and a big hall for satsang. American and British devotees can be seen here in good numbers singing krishna bhajans while other enjoy dancing on the divine tunes.
This temple is also well known for the inititives taken for improving scientific research and school education. A good number of people are engaged here in researching Vedic scriptures and promoting Krishna literature in seminars and workshops.
The cultural department of the temple is known as Bhakti Kala Kshetra and is engaged in organizing bhajan sandhyas, satsangs, video and audio tapes on Lord Krishna, his philoshopy, his teachings in Bhagwad Geeta, overall spiritual literature. It also has a large auditorium where celeberity singers, musians and other artists have performed in Krishna satsanga. The biggest names include late Jagjeet Singh, Ravi Shankar, Hema Malini, Anup Jalota and many many more.
In a busy city like Mumbai, this temple offers an opportunity to become one with lord krishna and, forget all the wordly tensions.



Darhan Timings: The temple opens with Mangala Aarti at 4.30 am and closes at 9pm with Shayan Aarti. Darshans remain closed during 1pm to 4.30 pm.
